Come molti di voi sapranno dal 2008 è stato abbandonato il vecchio regolamento Ims in favore del nuovo ORC International. Questa formula per la stazza e i compensi si basa ancora sul vecchio sistema IMS ma prevede alcuni cambiamenti interessanti in particolare per scafi innovativi come i nostri.
Innanzitutto i bulbi a siluro vengono ora equamente considerati e non  più penalizzati come nel vecchio regolamento. Sono poi incentivate le barche con molta stabilità. Da questo punto di vista parliamo di un vero e proprio bonus premiante che favorisce molto le nostre barche che, avendo il 45% del peso collocato nel bulbo, hanno un ottimo raddrizzamento.
Infine una buona notizia anche per l’uso del gennaker. La ORC International, infatti, ha messo a punto un nuovo sistema di calcolo per questo tipo di vele, che sono normalmente adottate da Sly yachts con il bompresso retrattile di serie.

Better rating for Sly yachts with new ORC rules

As most of you already know, in 2008 the old Ims rules have been replaced by the new ORC International regulation.
This new system for tonnage and compensation is based on the old IMS, but provides for some interesting changes, in particular for innovative hulls like ours.
First of all, the t-shaped bulbs are now equally considered and no more penalized, like in the passed rules. Then, boats with high stability are encouraged: we are speaking about a pure bonus which reward our boats, which have the 45% of the weight in the bulb, and for this reason don't list. Good news also for the gennaker. In fact, ORC International has prepared a new calculating system for this kind of sails, which are normally adopted by Sly Yachts with the standard retractable bowsprit.
