Sly Yachts ha selezionato gli undici giurati che eleggeranno il vincitore della prima edizione: un panel di professionisti, unici e davvero importanti a cui Sly Yachts desidera rendere un formale ringraziamento per l’onore, e il piacere, di averli accanto in questo progetto rivolto al futuro.E un augurio. Quello che l’impegno dedicato a questa idea rivolta ai giovani progettisti sia per tutti piacevole e appassionante, almeno quanto lo è per noi di Sly.

Enrico e Alessandro Franchini, Pierluigi Turchi
Titolari dell’azienda, anima del progetto Sly, e direttore commerciale. Questo gruppo ha costituirà un unico voto in sede di giuria: una scelta dettata dal desiderio di dare la giusta importanza al significato del Contest - disegnare lo Sly del futuro - ma senza voler pesare eccessivamente sugli equilibri interni.

Ing. Marco Lostuzzi
Titolare di Studio Lostuzzi Yacht Designen&Engineering è il noto progettista e primo ideatore di Sly. Un’ideale trait d’union tra Sly e la ricerca tecnologica offrirà al gruppo un ottimo supporto sia in termini di interpretazione del tema, sia nell’analisi di tutti i dettagli costruttivi e strutturali esposti nei progetti.

Dott.ssa Paola Gualeni
In rappresentanza del mondo accademico e della Ricerca italiana, la Prof.ssa Paola Gualeni dell’Università degli Studi di Genova, è ricercatrice presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Navale.

Dott. Nicolò Reggio
Membro di molte importanti Associazioni, italiane e internazionali, legate alla Nautica; fra queste ricordiamo Yacht Club Italiano e Royal Institution of Naval Architects.

Sig. Kunio Yamada
Importante imprenditore giapponese e internazionale nel settore cosmetico e farmaceutico, è armatore giapponese dello Sly 42 Irresistible.

Sig. Guy Curnillon
Ingegnere e regatante, affianca la propria passione alla conoscenza tecnica. Non ultimo, può vantare il recentissimo piazzamento al secondo posto alla scorsa edizione delle Voiles di St. Tropez con il suo Sly 42 Cachou.

Sig. Jochen Rieker
Direttore del rivista tedesca Yacht, che ogni anno organizza l’ambitissimo premio che ogni anno valuta le migliori barche del mondo: European Yacht of the Year Award.

Next Sly Contest 2008-2009: the jury
The list of those will elect the first edition winner has been defined. This is a panel of 11 precious unique and really important jurors. Sly Yachts would like to bestow an official thank you all for the honour and the pleasure to have you close to us in this project directed towards the future…and a special wish: may the commitment of this idea for young designers be as  fascinating and exciting for everyone as it was for us at Sly. 

Mr Enrico and Mr Alessandro Franchini; Mr. Pierluigi Turchi
Yard owners and heart of the Sly project and Sales Manager, they voted as only one person. This choice has been induced by the desire to maintain the very sense of the Contest – to design the Sly of the future – but without imposing too much weight on the internal balance of the jury.

Marco Lostuzzi
Famous designer and first creator of Sly, he is the ideal trait d’union between Sly and technological research He will offer the best support in terms of interpretation of the theme and analysis of construction and structural details explained in the projects.

Professor Paola Gualeni
Representative of the Italian academic and Research world she is professor at the University of Genova, Naval Engineering Dept.

Dr. Nicolò Reggio
member of several important Associations in the Nautical field, both Italian and International: among them, Yacht Club Italiano and Royal Institution of Naval Architects.

Mr. Kunio Yamada
important International contractor in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical sector, and owner of Sly 42 Irresistible.

Eengineer and regatta competitor, and French owner of Sly 42 Cachou. He joins passion with technical knowledge and, not least he can boast the recent great second place at le Voiles de St. Tropez, with his Sly 42 Cachou.

Con l’arrivo della stagione invernale può essere utile tenere a mente qualche suggerimento per evitare che l’imbarcazione possa danneggiarsi nei mesi di freddo più rigido.
Tendenzialmente se la barca viene lasciata in acqua non ci sono grandi accorgimenti da prendere, mentre ci vuole moltissima attenzione, quando si sceglie di metterla in secca (cosa più probabile per i nostri clienti del Nord Europa).

Solitamente è’ buona norma
- svuotare il boiler
- verificare che le sentine siano asciutte così come i wc. Per maggiore sicurezza è consigliabile cospargere le zone interessate con un po’ di liquido antigelo, lo stesso che normalmente si utilizza nelle automobili.
- svuotare il serbatoi dell’acqua e staccare i tubi dell’autoclave
- nel motore: controllare attentamente che non ci sia acqua nella marmitta del silenziatore e anche in quel caso utilizzare un po’ di liquido antigelo
- valutare l’opportunità di togliere le batterie.

The good maintenance of the boat during the winter season
Winter has come and it could be helpful keep in mind a couple of good suggestions, in order to avoid damages during the cold months.
Normally if the boat stays in water, you won’t have big problems. You must pay more attention if you decide to take it out (this happens especially to our customers in North Europe)

Normally you should…
- empty the boiler
- control that the bilges are dry and the wc as well. Eventually, you can put some antifreeze liquid inside (the same one you use for your car)
- empty the water tanks and take off the autoclave tubes
- engine: control not to leave water in the silencer and use eventually an antifreeze liquid.
- evaluate the opportunity to take off the batteries

Sono tutti con il fiato sospeso i 21 partecipanti che hanno inviato il loro progetto presso la sede del cantiere e che attendono ora il responso della giuria. Il nome del vincitore verrà reso ufficiale durante una cerimonia, il 18 gennaio in occasione del Boot di Düsseldorf.

Mentre la composizione del panel dei giurati giunge alle ultime fasi, è già possibile formulare un primo bilancio sull’esito dell’edizione 2008-2009. Cominciamo con il numero dei progetti in gara, in tutto 14, provenienti da varie parti del mondo. Una quantità più che soddisfacente se si pensa che questa iniziativa è stata inaugurata quest’anno per la prima volta e con un tema di grande complessità da svolgersi in soli tre mesi: l’intera progettazione di una barca, dallo scafo, al piano velico, dal layout degli interni a quello di coperta.

Buona anche l’affluenza di designer e studenti stranieri, quasi il 50% degli iscritti al concorso: un buon bilanciamento che dimostra come Sly sia ormai un cantiere riconosciuto a livello internazionale Paesi e che conferma ancora una volta il prestigio della nautica made in Italy.

Una nota importante, la considerazione che accanto agli studenti appaiono fra gli iscritti designer già inseriti nel mondo del lavoro, progettisti presenti in Studi specializzati che hanno trovato nel Concorso la giusta occasione per rimettersi in gioco, per creare innovazione e insieme mettersi in contatto con il Cantiere. Entusiasmo, impegno e tanta creatività: il primo screening delle tavole giunte in cantiere ha subito evidenziato la grande passione per la nautica che anima tutti questi giovani pronti a immaginare insieme a noi lo Sly de futuro.

Bene anche l’interpretazione dei temi ecologici richiesti a bando a dimostrazione di come sia un’esigenza sempre più condivisa saper progettare nella tutela dell’ambiente: ecco così proposte con pannelli solari, propulsione ibrida, materiali innovativi…Una nuova onda di sensibilizzazione che riflette la sempre più comune occorrenza di grande rispetto per la natura e amore vero per il mare.
 
Il 21 novembre il cantiere renderà ufficiali i nomi dei giurati, che procederanno così alle votazioni conclusive. Quelle che stabiliranno il primo attesissimo vincitore di Next Sly Contest.

Next Sly Contest. Creativity and enthusiasm, waiting for the winner announcement

They are all with bated breath the 21 competitors who sent their projects to the yard and are waiting now for the response of the jury. The name of the winner will be made official next 18 January during a special ceremony, on occasion of the Boot Düsseldorf.

While the composition of the Jury is at its last stage, it is already possible to express a first balance of this edition. The 21 competitors designed and presented 14 projects, coming form all over the world. This is a great result if we consider the very short time granted to the designers: only three months for the total design of a boat, from the hull to the sail plan, from the interior layout to the deck plan.

The good affluence of designers and students coming from foreign countries, almost 50%, shows again how Sly is considered an international trend setter in the nautical field, qualifying itself, as a worldwide point of reference, symbol of the research talent and the excellence of the made in Italy in the world.
 
It is important to point out that not only students are in the list of competitors, but also graduated designers, already working for specialized offices, who found in the Contest the opportunity to put themselves at stake, to create innovation, to get in touch with the Yard. Enthusiasm, passion and creativity: the first screening of the designs, highlights the great fervour that all the participants lavished, imagining with us the Sly if the future.

Also the interpretation of the ecological subjects, requested in the competition rules, was very good and a proof of a more and more shared need of designing, keeping in mind the environmental protection: so we got proposals with sun panels, hybrid propulsion, innovative materials. This is a new wave of sensibility that reflects the common need for respect of nature and love for sea.

The jury members, their names will be official on the 21st of November, have now the important commitment of examining the projects with care and choose who will win this edition of the Next Sly Contest.

Grande successo per la prima edizione di Next Sly Contest: il concorso, ideato da Sly Yachts, si è chiuso ieri, registrando ben 44 concorrenti, provenienti da tutto il mondo.

In attesa dell’arrivo dei progetti, per cui la scadenza è il 31 ottobre, sarà possibile consultare il minisito dell’iniziativa ancora accessibile dalla home page di www.sly-yachts.com.

Nei prossimi giorni una speciale area del sito verrà dedicata a tutti i dettagli di questa prima edizione,  all’avanzamento dei lavori, e alla convocazione della giuria.

Vi ricordiamo, inoltre, che la premiazione e l’annuncio ufficiale del vincitore avverranno in occasione del Boot di Dusseldorf.

Entries to the Next Sly Contest closed on the 30th of September

Great success for the first edition of Next Sly Contest: the competition promoted by Sly Yachts was closed yesterday, registering 44 competitors coming from all over the world.

Meanwhile the projects arrive (deadline on 31st of October), it is still possible to check the contest website from the home page of www.sly-yachts.com

In the next days a special area dedicated to the contest will show all the details about this first edition, the work in progress and the holding of the jury.
 
The prize giving and the official announcement of the winner will take place at the Boot Düsseldorf.
